Long Vegas Night by Bruce T. Holmes

It's a long Vegas night
Lost my money, my hopes and my schemes, that's all right
I'm a little bit tight
They kept slipping me drinks till my wallet got light
I been looking for you.
I been looking for someone as pretty as you
All these women are crude
All the faces are pinched and they're mean except you
How about taking off?
How about you and I take our dreams and get lost?
On this long Vegas night
I just need you to love me and make it all right.

Oh, I feel like a fool
Sure a girls got to charge what she can to get by
Fraid I'm wasting your time
I've got nothing they cleaned me out down to a dime
I'd understand if you walk
But if you've had a tough night we could sit here and talk.
I miss my kids
I miss my wife
I miss my life

Shouldn't call her my wife
We're divorced, but old habits die hard, like this life
She kept saying she cared
She kept saying she loved me, would always be there
Boy I hadn't a clue
Found herself someone else and then told me the news
I miss my kids
I miss my wife
I miss my life

God it happened so fast
One day it's homework and meals
and bridge night then it's past
Had this fixer-up house
Got it looking just great except he lives there now
I don't know who to blame
If I did it again would I do it the same?
I miss my kids
I miss my wife
I miss my life

I can't seem to let go
I keep thinking of things that the kids ought to know
Got their pictures right here
That's my Sara, that's Danny and Chris and Cecere
Hey, you've really been sweet
I can't thank you enough for just sitting with me
Watch your back in this town
Smiles like yours don't last long;
they'll be pulling you down
I could love you ya know
I'd be faithful and kind and the hurt wouldn't show
Hey, you be good, you hear
Hope you find some high roller
who won't bend your ear
